To Whom It May Concern,
RE: Health and Safety Service
Bright A Blind Ltd currently have a 1-year contract with the Health and Safety Consultancy at Croner Consulting and have been clients since 1999.
Who We Are
Croner Consulting (Formerly IRPC) was established in 1977 and is today part of the multinational Wolters Kluwer group of companies, established leaders in the field of business advice. Based in Hinckley, Leicestershire, we employ approximately 500 persons with 40 Health and Safety specialists, both field and office based.
Our Consultants are experts in their fields, with:
• Appropriate qualifications such as the NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Membership of recognised professional bodies such as the Institution of Occupational Safety
and Health and the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management.
• Relevant experience in their field, with many coming from enforcement backgrounds.
The Safety Team is also supported by an associate consultancy programme all of which are covered by appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Our Service
Initially our Consultant will visit our client’s premises and conduct a ‘fact finding’ inspection. The Consultant will then prepare a tailored Health and Safety Management System and Risk Manager manual as outlined in the following sections.
Once the client has received these documents, our Consultant will return to train the key persons with Health and Safety responsibilities within the client’s organisation in the use of the documentation, ensuring that that they are comfortable and confident in implementing the System.
Following from this we visit our client on an agreed basis to review the content of the Management System and the Risk Manager Manual, ensuring that the documentation accurately reflects the client’s current working environment. As an alternative, we can offer ‘Menu Options’ whereby we can perform other Health and Safety Consultancy activities such as Training, Specific Risk Assessment, Toolbox Talks and Noise Assessment instead of the standard review visit.
Our client is continually supported by our Health, Safety and Environmental Helpline, manned by qualified and experienced Consultants and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Health and Safety Management System
We provide a comprehensive Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) which is tailored to our client’s organisation and working practices. The Management System is produced in line with the Health and Safety Executive publication HSG 65 ‘Successful Health and Safety Management’ and forms an effective system of management control for Health and Safety issues.
The Management System contains (but is not limited to) the following:
• Health and Safety Policy Statement (Statement of Intent).
• Management Structure for Health and Safety.
• Individual Responsibilities for each identified member of the client’s Management Team detailing individual responsibilities commensurate with their position in the organisation.
• General Health and Safety Responsibilities and Rules for all employees.
• Health and Safety Policies and Procedures relating to the client’s working activities.
• A proactive programme of Monitoring for each identified member of the client’s Management Team whereby hazards can be identified and remedial actions taken can be recorded. The Monitoring programme ‘backs up’ the Policies and Procedures, providing evidence that the client is following through on their Policy commitments.
• Guidance covering various aspects of our clients’ activities enabling them to formulate Safe Systems of Work.
• Procedures for the recording, reporting and investigation of accidents and dangerous occurrences.
• Procedures for identifying and managing training requirements.
• Forms, Records, Templates and other critical documentation.
Risk Manager
Our Risk Manager service provides helps the client to identify the Health and Safety risks associated with their working operations by providing General Risk Assessments which identify hazards, persons who may be harmed, rate the risks involved and identify the need for additional control measures as required by relevant Health and Safety legislation, Approved Codes of Practice and best practice requirements. They are backed up by a prioritised Plan of Improvement and/or Management Action Plan which highlight any remedial actions identified in the General Risk Assessments.
We also identify the need to undertake Specific Risk Assessments as required under certain legislation (e.g. Noise Assessment/Manual Handling/COSHH/Display Screen Equipment Workstation/New and Expectant Mothers/Legionella) and provide assessment templates where necessary.
Additional Services
The provision of the Management System and Risk Manager forms only part of our Service. Our client also has available to them the following:
• A 24-hour Health, Safety and Environmental Helpline operated directly by our Consultancy and based at our main office in Hinckley, Leicestershire. Our Helpline is manned by Health and Safety/Environmental experts who are experienced, competent and qualified in their relative fields.

• A monthly newsletter which contains Health and Safety news, details of recent prosecutions, information on forthcoming legislation and articles on practical Health and Safety management.
